For the purposes of these General Conditions of Carriage‚ an assistance dog is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to perform specific tasks or duties directly related to a person’s physical‚ sensory‚ intellectual‚ cognitive‚ mental‚ or psychiatric disability. The tasks performed by the dog must directly contribute to mitigating the effects of the user’s disability. Guide Dogs and Psychiatric Assistance Dogs SANSA Airlines will allow guide dogs and psychiatric assistance dogs to be transported in the cabin at no additional charge‚ provided that the animal is under the user’s constant control‚ behaves appropriately in public and aviation settings‚ does not pose a risk to passengers‚ crew‚ or flight operations‚ complies with applicable health and documentation requirements‚ and its status as an assistance dog can be reasonably demonstrated through documentation‚ credentials‚ certifications‚ functional identification‚ or any other means acceptable to SANSA Airlines. Throughout the entire trip‚ the animal must:
The maximum weight allowed for an assistance animal is 40 kg. Due to the aircraft’s specifications and cabin space limitations‚ SANSA may require prior coordination to verify transportation conditions. Emotional Support Animals Emotional support animals will not be considered assistance animals for the purposes of air travel. SANSA accepts only dogs and cats as emotional support animals‚ which must comply with the Company’s emotional support animal transportation policy‚ including:
Transportation of Pets SANSA only allows the transportation of dogs and cats as pets‚ subject to payment of the corresponding fee and availability of space on the aircraft. Pets must travel in a secure‚ sturdy‚ clean‚ and appropriately sized container or kennel that allows the animal to stand‚ turn around‚ and lie down in a natural position during transport. The maximum combined weight of the pet and its carrier is 40 kg. Acceptance for transport is subject to the aircraft’s capacity‚ weight‚ and balance limitations. For this reason‚ SANSA does not guarantee the availability of space for pets on all flights and recommends making a request in advance. General Requirements for Transporting Animals The passenger or person responsible for the animal must present the required documentation‚ including a valid vaccination card or certificate‚ when applicable. A maximum of 2 animals is allowed per aircraft. The animal must be in good health and show no visible signs of illness‚ injury‚ aggressive behavior‚ or any condition that could pose a risk to:
SANSA reserves the right to refuse to transport any animal that does not meet the established requirements‚ does not have the required documentation‚ or whose condition may affect safety or the normal conduct of the flight.
