SANSA REGIONAL: A Zero-Emissions (Carbon-Neutral) Airline!

Since June, 2007, SANSA REGIONAL has been one of less than 5 “Zero Emissions Airlines” in the world (one of the others is Aeroperlas REGIONAL in Panama!).  What does this mean? Each year, SANSA REGIONAL pays thousands of dollars to a fund (FONAFIFO) established to protect rain forest areas that help to off-set carbon emissions through the generation of new Oxygen.  In SANSA’s case, we pay to protect 48 hectares of virgin rain forest in the Puerto Jimenez region of Costa Rica. In so doing, we are not only doing our part for the environment, but also helping to protect various rare and endangered species, as well as supporting the many Costa Ricas who rely on the local eco-system for their livelihood.
